Blitz tournaments in and around Rome 3

Rated blitz, lampo in Italian, is rarer around Rome than rapid, and three entries carry it. Steinitz in Conca d’Oro alternates numbered blitz tournaments with its rapids on weekend afternoons, with a fixed ceiling on entries, so registering early matters. In Marino, the festival held during the town’s grape harvest celebrations ends with a rated blitz in a hall of Palazzo Colonna.

Roma Città Aperta, the international festival played in a hotel on Piazza del Pigneto in December, sets a blitz tournament beside its main opens, its rapid and its team event. Friendly blitz is harder to pin down: the Accademia Scacchistica Romana has advertised a Monday blitz evening, but the notice read dates from 2023.
