More about this page

Tuesday evening in Rome means the Lazio Scacchi series at an oratory in Prati: players are sorted by rating into groups of eight and meet once a week for a long game, cycle after cycle through the season, with a rapid for the leaders of each group to close a cycle. Entry is by registration, and the groups fill according to rating.

The Scuola Popolare di Scacchi keeps Tuesday evening for free play, from six o’clock until late. On the coast, the Zichichi circle in Ladispoli gives Tuesday late afternoon to newcomers, with instructors introducing the game and boards free for casual play afterwards. The Accademia Scacchistica Romana lists itself as open on Tuesdays along with the other days of the working week. Dates of each cycle are on the organisers’ pages, and a cycle that has already begun may not take late entries.
