Chess courses for children 9
More about this page
Children around Rome learn chess mostly at a circolo. The Scuola Popolare di Scacchi sorts its youth courses into numbered levels, Quattro Pedoni in Balduina teaches children on Saturday afternoons, Easyscacchi opens its youth courses in October, and the Zichichi circle in Ladispoli keeps Sunday morning for a school aimed at primary-school ages. The clubs of Ostia, Vitinia and Frascati add the junior tournaments where pupils try out what they have learnt.
There is also a chess school named after Botvinnik with a registered address in Rome and a place on the regional list of federal chess schools, though the newest trace of it is over a year old. Inside the school system, a comprehensive school has run a small chess workshop for its own pupils as part of an open-schools programme. Ask about age groups and prices; almost none are published.
