Chess on a Friday in and around Rome 5

More about this page

Around Rome, Friday is a club day more than a tournament day. Roma Scacchi lists Friday afternoon, like Wednesday, at the Statuario Capannelle social centre in Via Siderno, one of the three halls the club plays in; its card says which hall is open on which day. North-east of the city, the Mentana club opens its rooms twice on a Friday: for two hours in the late afternoon and again from nine until midnight.

On the coast, the Zichichi circle in Ladispoli keeps Friday evening, from nine o’clock, for its competitive activity and lessons. The Accademia Scacchistica Romana near Tiburtina station counts Friday among its opening days, without stating hours. One more entry is older: a 2024 post of the regional committee places a Friday afternoon course by a grandmaster at the circle of Rocca Priora, in the Castelli Romani, and nothing later confirms it, as its card says. None of these pages says whether a visitor may simply walk in, so write to the club first.
